What is the Correction of Longstanding Errors in Agencies Unsustainable Procurements Act (Clean Up Act), or S. 924?
The leadership of TJFACT is keeping an eye on the developments of this legislation introduced by Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md) on April 29, 2009. This proposed bill would suspend competitive sourcing and federal agencies would be required to review their service contracts and to bring some types of previously contracted work in-house. The perception is that the playing field for federal employees isn’t level. TJFACT understands the spirit of this proposed legislation and believes that cooperation can be gained so that both public and private staffing can maximize opportunities.
President Obama is calling for procurement reform.
Noise from the contractor community suggests that Obama’s acquisition reform proposals introduced on March 4 are unclear but most think that the reform proposals should be supported. Solutions that can be implemented quickly and that are configurable for change can maximize advantages in this new environment.
